AMAREVOIS NEW RELEASE

Melbourne musician/producer Amarevois is set to release the first single from her concept album Oraculum in June this year, the first on her own label, Azimuth Arts.

Based upon her sci-fi opera Neolithica, Oraculum is told through the eyes of the story’s two protagonists, the ancient oracle Locus Pyre and Axo, her parallel self who lives in the future city of Colluvium. Click here for the Oraculum Prologue, a free six-part online microfiction/soundscape series that comprises vignettes from The Oracle’s adventures as she travels through time.

“Sometimes, to gain the world, you must let it go. To become an Oracle is to gain one’s own eyes. To lose the self, yet be unified with the All That Is. It is often to forfeit belonging, to be shunned or vilified. To be a nomad in an empire of one. I had said my farewells. “ – Locus Pyre (Prologue Episode 1)

Ten years after seeing Amarevois perform live @ The Kitten Club in Melbourne, artist manager Jo Hogan approached Amarevois about doing the sound design for one of her numerous media projects. During the first meeting at Amarevois’ studio, she was amazed to see every available inch of wall space occupied by song titles, story breakdowns, costume and set designs and concept artworks.

“Amarevois is the consummate artist. She has a deep authenticity, powerful life stories, a wild imagination and an embarrassing array of talents. It was like a giant puzzle, five albums deep, all connected to each other to form a complex organism. I felt that her body of work was too important to leave on the walls of her studio; I knew immediately that I wanted to be a part of getting these works published. Oraculum is the first piece of that bigger picture and has been born out of a year of riveting discussions about the miraculous nature of the universe and the future of humanity.” – Jo Hogan

Amarevois’ work melds ancient and futuristic themes that explore cosmic awareness and authentic liberty. With musical influences as diverse as Diamanda Galas, David Sylvian, Bowie and Prince; producer, composer, multi-instrumentalist, performer and visual artist Amarevois delivers a unique voice and a compelling visual style with a socially provocative gnosis.

Shamanic House. Cyberpunk Opera. Ethereal Funk. Gothic Jazz. Amarevois’ music is an ambient landscape imbued with orchestral elements and a menacing, compelling depth. A powerfully seductive singer with a huge range, her tonal palette oscillates between quietly intimate and explosively operatic, and is at once deeply visceral. An experienced musician, she plays many instruments (including guitars, basses, keyboards, drums/percussion, brass, woodwind, strings) and is a captivating live performer.

“Listening to Amarevois’ music is like being gently bathed in swirls of dreamy complexity….it takes you on a vast, inexpressible journey”
